Avoiding some duties
Saturday's are my day to balance the checkbook, pay bills, and run errands. I try to get it all finished by 8 a.m. so I can have the rest of the day to carve, work on a stained glass project, or do some handyman thing around the house. Today is already all fucked up.
I slept in until 7:30 — an amazing feat, actually. My black Lab, Boi, is used to getting up with me at 1:30 everyday, so at 3:30 this morning a very confused dog is poking me in the face with his wet nose and inquiring after my health. Oh, and by the way, he says with another poke, my bladder is quite full.
"Lie down," I whisper. "We're sleeping in today."
So here it is, almost 8 o'clock and I haven't even started recording receipts yet. I have a ton of writing I have to get finished today. Have to get finished. I think that's why I slept in and am now writing in this Blog. I'm very familiar with avoidance. I've based my whole life on it: avoid school by getting sick, avoid work by staying in school, avoid school again by getting a job, avoid death by working out and keeping healthy.
Enough! Time to get my day back on track.
